Umbrella Strollers Category:

Are you always kicking the back of your stroller or bent over to avoid doing so? Finally here is an umbrella stroller with tall handles that will keep you strolling in comfortable upright position. The First Years Ignite Stroller is a new stroller that just came out and I think it’s much better for tall parents than the Heavenly Stroller!

The First Years Ignite Stroller

Besides being designed with tall handles, this umbrella stroller has got a few nice touches that the Heavenly Stroller lacked. For one thing, there’s a basket. Although it is rather small, and not very easy to access with the cross bar at the back, but it is a basket nevertheless. You can put a small diaper bag in it.

The First Years Ignite Stroller also bears up to 50 pounds, 10 pounds more than the Heavenly Stroller and many more than other umbrella strollers. You can use it for older toddlers as well as babies as young as 6 months old. The seat doesn’t recline fully, though I wouldn’t expect that for a umbrella stroller.

This stroller is easy to push and turns easily as well. The wheels are good for hard, smooth surfaces but can handle the pavements all right with a few cracks or bumps. Way to go!

Other Nice Stuff
This umbrella stroller is well built, assembles in 5 minutes and folds up compactly. The seat is quite comfortable for the child compared to other cheap umbrella strollers. There is a zippered pouch and cup holder for parent.

It comes at such an affordable price too. At $45 this wholly compensated for the fact that it doesn’t have a hand strap for carrying, or an adjustable canopy. I think The First Years Ignite Stroller is a good buy, what do you think?

Finally there’s an umbrella stroller with adjustable handles! The Heavenly stroller (named quite suitably, in my opinion) is The Umbrella Stroller for tall parents.

The Heavenly Stroller – Best Umbrella Stroller for Tall Parents

Maybe height is not really such a big issue for most parents, because all strollers are made with handles for the average height.

But if mummy or daddy is exceptionally tall and always have to bend over to push the stroller, then a stroller with adjustable handles is just what you need. If you love your baby very much but positively feel tired taking him/her out in the stroller, you know what I mean.

What’s so cool about The Heavenly stroller is that the handles can be adjusted to suit parents of any height. And you can do this any time even while baby is in the seat. Just push the bulbs on the vertical bars and pull the handles up or down to the position good for you.

There’s nothing very fancy about this stroller though. It’s a super basic stroller, with only one small pocket, but the vertical bars are kinda handy to hang small things on. I wish they’d come out with more features on this stroller.

The Heavenly stroller is lightweight and folds up very compactly. Great for outings in the park, I’d say. It’s affordable too, only about half the price of the usual umbrella stroller, so you can probably buy it as a spare stroller.

Personally I’d prefer the Combi Twin Sport 2 over this one for a twin stroller, because strictly speaking this Jeep Wrangler Twin Sport umbrella stroller is not much lighter than the Combi (which is not an umbrella stroller), but I have to agree that the price is attractive.

Jeep Wrangler Twin Sport All-Weather Umbrella Stroller – Best Twin Umbrella Stroller

This stroller is nice for short trips, doesn’t have a lot of fancy features but I wasn’t counting on many with an umbrella stroller.

Each seat can recline independently, which is wonderful! It doesn’t have a storage basket, but I’m pleasantly surprised by the two pouches on the sides to keep small stuff in. The other things you need can be hung on the handles, I guess.

The Jeep Wrangler Twin Sport is compact enough to go through standard doorways with a little angling, and it folds down nice and flat. I like that it can be folded using just one hand, because with two babies on tow I don’t think you can expect anything less!

Its description says it has all terrain wheels but I’m not sure that’s true since I haven’t tried it on sand or grass. The wheels didn’t look very ‘all-terrain’ to me.

Well, all in all the Jeep Wrangler Twin Sport is a decent twin stroller, the best in umbrella type, and there’s a big cut in the price right now.

My friend asked me to find her a good umbrella stroller for her one year old, and I was surprised to find that Maclaren Volo has been recalled just this week. Anyway, she bought this Chicco Capri and told me she’s in love with it already!

This stroller is sturdy enough for an umbrella stroller. The frame is anodized aluminum and very light – just 11 pounds. It is not too narrow and carries my friend’s rather tall baby well.

She has taken it out for a few trips and likes it very much for its portability. There’s a carrying strap so she can carry it whenever traveling on public transport while holding baby at the same time! Granted, the light weight has allowed her to go where she couldn’t with her standard stroller.

What I like about it is that it has good suspension wheels! I hadn’t really expected springy wheels with an umbrella stroller, but these are good to take out most of the bumps that make baby uncomfortable.

The 5-point harness with padded shoulder straps is a nice touch for safety and comfort combined. Folding and unfolding are both simple to do and safe, but remember never to do either while baby is in it!

Chicco Capri reclines, although only in two positions. But since umbrella strollers are really meant for older babies and short trips, the fact that it doesn’t fully recline shouldn’t matter. If you want something that baby can sleep in, get a standard stroller!

Don’t expect full features from even the best umbrella stroller, of course. There is no cup holder, and the basket is small, but it does have a back pocket you can put a drink in (a helpful suggestion from a reviewer, thanks!).

Chicco Capri is the best umbrella stroller in the market now, I would say. Recommended for mums on the go.

Joovy Kooper Umbrella Stroller

You know, there are times when I want to go the park for a short walk but end up spending too much time there because the weather is so nice and it does you good to get out and generally do nothing once in a while. That’s when the full size stroller is too cumbersome but I’d wish the umbrella stroller has more features like a basket to keep stuff in and a reclining seat when my baby gets bored and want to sleep.

I was looking for a cross between an umbrella stroller and a full size stroller, and I found the Joovy Kooper Umbrella Stroller. It is only slightly heavier than most lightweight umbrella strollers, not really noticeable at all, but it has an array of features that is so convenient!

There is a basket, a zip compartment for your personal items, and two mesh bottle holders at the back. There are even mesh pockets for the child to keep toys or snacks in! But that’s not the best yet. The recline is splendid. You can put the seat at any angle you want because there are no fixed positions for recline. Why aren’t all the stroller recline systems designed like this? And you can adjust the recline with one hand too.

Another feature worth mentioning is the canopy. I have never seen an umbrella stroller with such a huge canopy yet. This really shades the baby from the sun and keeps baby cool. You can also unfasten the Velcro straps on top of the canopy and pull it down to shade baby from the other direction. Brilliant!

Any cons? Well, maybe the price. This is still an umbrella stroller with a few handy features and the price is rather towards a full feature stroller. If you are really tall, this doesn’t have adjustable handles, and you might want to consider the Heavenly Stroller for tall parents instead.

All in all this Joovy Kooper Umbrella Stroller is pretty cool. Other reviewers pointed out many other features they loved as well but I only wrote about those I think are major advantages for an umbrella stroller. Click to see their reviews.

If you want an umbrella stroller but don’t feel like splurging over $50 for it, the Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella Stroller is a good budget umbrella stroller to get.

Quite a few of my friends have bought this stroller and they say it moves very smoothly for an umbrella stroller. I think it must be the shock absorbing front swivel wheels which are very well made. A couple of the reviewers said it moves like a full size stroller and I absolutely agree!

Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella Stroller reclines, though not fully (don’t expect full recline for umbrella strollers!), and is comfortable enough for baby to nap in. I like it that the back of the seat is padded! That means more comfort and sturdiness.

The special feature on this stroller is the iPod adapter and pocket, which is nice for bringing music out during walks and outdoor trips. The iPod pocket is a little tricky, but it works.

There are some grumbles about the shade. It is snapped on to the stroller, and some have found it hard to fold the stroller with the shade on, yet don’t like to take it off before folding it. Sigh. I guess for a stroller this price you can’t have everything perfect.

The Kolcraft iBaby Reclining Umbrella Stroller is so affordable that you can buy it as a spare stroller to bring out when on the go with baby. It’s not as lightweight as some other umbrella strollers; it’s 12.75 pounds, but what is one or two-pound difference?

Too bad for mums with baby boys, though, because it’s a lovely soft pink.
